A 45-year-old tribal woman died of grievous injuries after being raped by two men in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district, police said. The two accused have been arrested in connection with the incident that occurred on Saturday.
The police also found out that Raj Kushwaha, boyfriend of Sonam, was the mastermind in the murder plot and she is the co-conspirator.
Raja's mother said that Sonam behaved well towards her and used to hug her when they met. She added that if Sonam has no involvement in the case, then she should not be accused.
Sonam surrendered before the Nandganj police station in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur, while three other assailants were arrested in overnight raids. Of the three arrested men, two are from Madhya Pradesh's Indore and one from Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh, she said. According to PTI Video, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said one more was arrested from Madhya Pradesh's Sadar district on Monday.

The Madhya Pradesh health department has suspended the license of Damoh-based Mission Hospital after it was discovered that a 'fake' cardiologist, Narendra Yadav alias Narendra John Camm, had been performing unauthorized surgeries on patients. The hospital's license expired on March 31, 2025, and its management had applied for renewal in December last year. The application for renewal was returned to the management after some shortcomings were found in the hospital.
