Yeh Dillagi. My first film Aashiq Aawara did well, but Yeh Dillagi confirmed my right to be in this industry. Apart from that, it meant more to me because it was my first release with Kajol, whom I was supposed to do Bekhudi with. So its success was a turning point in my career.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how Net savvy are you?:
I would rate myself a 9.
How often do you surf?:
My timings aren't fixed...sometimes it's throughout the day, at other times I won't go online for a couple of days. My favourite surfing time is at night, when I like to read something I am interested in. I am not a mail fanatic and only check email twice a week. The longest I have surfed is about six hours non-stop.
Your favourite hangouts on the Internet:
For my music, I like Napster. For books or films, it's Amazon. Then, there are sites dealing with subjects that interest me, like guns, audio, medicine, etc. Among Indian sites, I would rate rediff.com and Indiatimes.com as good enough.
What you like best about the World Wide Web:
The fact that it's like a box in your house that connects you to the whole world. In fact, I feel that if you have a valid credit card and an Internet connection, there's very little you cannot organise. And that feeling of freedom is overwhelming, to say the least.
If you could change something about the Internet, it would be:
Connection speed. I wish it would be faster. But then, with newer technologies, that's bound to happen soon.
What do you search for online?:
I have never gone to a dating site, nor am I into the chatting scene (not even instant messaging). I once visited the Rediff Small-Smoke-Filled-Cafe chat room, and though I didn't make a chat-friend, I did come across some interesting people.
Your idea of a perfect Web site would be:
One that caters to the target customer. It should give product information and massive amounts of detail. Apart from that, the layout should be attractive and easy to follow. And yes, it would be nice if it were free, though generally it's not. I would cite Amazon as a perfect site for films.
If you could buy anything online, it would be?:
I mainly order books I haven't been able to find elsewhere. I also order CDs from CDNow. They send it straight to your house, and I don't have problems with customs. But then, there are times when products haven't reached me in the best condition. Once, out of ten videotapes I ordered, one of them arrived crushed.
If you could sell anything online, it would be?:
Second-hand books, films, clothes, stuff like guitars... or anything I have been wanting to dispose off.
Do you go ego-surfing, checking pages or sites devoted to you?:
Oh yes, it's fun to do that. It's nice to see these 50 odd pages devoted to me with interesting pictures and information. Earlier I would even have my own photographs as screensavers or wallpapers, but not anymore. Right now I have a wallpaper of a strange man with a tattoo on his back.
Strangest experience online:
I wouldn't call it strange, but I found a site on illegal activities like how to make bombs or thermo-nuclear devices, which I found quite shocking.
