The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), is an All-India Examination conducted by the six Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.
This site says that the objective of the GATE exam is to identify meritorious candidates for admission to Postgraduate Programmes. It also explains important dates and examination details.
