A quick-thinking homemaker in Piravom, Kerala, saved her husband from drowning after he fell into a 40-foot-deep well. Padmam climbed into the well using a rope and kept her husband afloat in the chest-high water until fire and rescue personnel arrived. The couple remained in the well for nearly 15-20 minutes before being rescued, and Padmam even insisted on lifting her husband into the rescue net herself before climbing out. Her bravery and presence of mind are being lauded by officials.
