India still trying to get children in Norway back home

The two Indian children, who have been placed in emergency foster care in Norway since May, could come back after a court hearing there in June, Lok Sabha was informed on Thursday. "We are taking it up, putting pressure on (Norway). Indications are that they might be back in June, (they will be) in their natural habitat. We would like to see the children back in their natural habitat," Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur said.

The government has put on hold the visit of a senior external affairs ministry official to Norway in connection with the child custody case amid reports that there were differences between the parents. "The government has tried its best to bring the children home so that they have a future in the country. But a new situation has developed, we cannot interfere. The visit of a joint secretary (to Norway) has been postponed," Minister of State Preneet Kaur said.
