A first information report has been lodged against eight Twitter handles for allegedly propagating fake news in connection with the death of two girls in Unnao last week, police said on Monday.
The search operation is spread across at least 17 premises in four districts of Uttar Pradesh -- Lucknow, Banda, Unnao, Fatehpur, they said.
After battling for her life for almost 40 hours, the 23-year-old woman died following a cardiac arrest on Friday night at the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

What steps are being taken by the government to stop crime against the women, which take place on a daily basis?'
Police on Thursday registered a case of murder into the deaths of two teenage girls whose bodies were found in a field in Unnao even as a post-mortem revealed no injury marks.
