A 22-year-old man in Meerut, India, alleges he was tricked into marrying the mother of his intended bride. The complainant, Mohammad Azeem, claims his brother and sister-in-law arranged the marriage and the bride's 45-year-old widowed mother, disguised as the bride, was married to him instead. Azeem claims he was threatened with a false rape accusation after protesting the deception. Police are investigating the case, but a settlement has been reached between the parties and Azeem has withdrawn his complaint.
The police were waiting for the final post-mortem examination report to come to a conclusion regarding the murder of a woman doctor, whose body was found in state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, an officer said.

A hotelier in Kerala has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a woman employee. The incident occurred on Saturday night when the accused, identified as Devadas, barged into the woman's rented house. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an appeal in the Calcutta High Court seeking the death penalty for Sanjay Roy, who was sentenced to "life imprisonment until death" for the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The CBI argued that the crime falls under the "rarest of rare" category deserving capital punishment, while the trial court had ruled otherwise. Seven months after their daughter's rape-murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the parents of the deceased doctor finally received her death certificate from West Bengal Health Secretary NS Nigam. The health secretary visited the doctor's residence on Wednesday evening to deliver the original death certificate to her parents. The victim's father had been demanding the certificate since the incident in August and alleged that he had to go through bureaucratic hurdles to obtain it.
