Automotive technology major Bosch Ltd on Thursday said it may be 'compelled' to declare a lockout at its main manufacturing unit in Bengaluru, three days after it shut operations at Naganathpura plant.
The company said despite the recession in global markets, it has invested over Euro 3 billion (Rs 20,000 crore) in 2009 particularly in developing technologies for the low- priced vehicles to improve fuel efficiency.
The company, which is facing strike at its Bengaluru plant, and had faced labour unrest at Jaipur plant, also said that such stirs could hurt India's competitiveness.
Bosch Limited's Bengaluru plant reached the settlement with its Workmen Union-Mico Employees' Association on December 8 and, with this, the prolonged "illegal" strike called by the Union comes to an end, it said.
