A cargo ship is sinking after it collided with another cargo vessel coming from the opposite direction in Hooghly River in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Tuesday. With two more bodies fished out of the Hooghly river, the toll in the trawler capsize mishap rose to 83 on Thursday.Meanwhile, fishermen spotted a piece of wood floating in the middle of the river on Wednesday evening near Chakfuldubi village bearing the trawler's name 'Ma Durga'. They pulled it to Majarchar village and informed the authorities. The police on Thursday morning reached the spot with a launch and divers to determine if it was indeed the elusive trawler.

For GRSE, the navy's order for four anti-submarine warfare (ASW) corvettes is its flagship project. Kolkata, the first Indian city to get a metro railway network, will set another precedent by having an underwater rail connection. The Union cabinet on Thursday approved the much-awaited extension of the Kolkata metro with its neighbouring city Howrah, which will include a tunnel under the Hooghly river.The project, estimated to cost Rs 4,676 crore, will connect one of the busiest railway stations of eastern India, Howrah, and the information technology suburb of Salt Lake.
