Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab and his then cabinet colleague Anil Deshmukh allegedly received Rs 40 crore from 10 DCPs in Mumbai to reverse the order of their transfer issued by the then city police commissioner Param Bir Singh, dismissed police officer Sachin Waze told ED.
Deshmukh said, "The ED has provisionally seized my family's property estimated at around Rs 4 crore"
The ED case against Deshmukh and others is borne out after the CBI first carried out a preliminary enquiry followed by a regular case being filed on the orders of the Bombay High Court.
Deshmukh's personal secretary Sanjeev Palande and personal assistant Kundan Shinde were arrested by the ED on June 26, after it carried out raids against them and the NCP leader in Mumbai and Nagpur.
Earlier, former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh had accused Deshmukh of asking Waze to collect money from bar owners in Mumbai, an allegation which Deshmukh, who later resigned, denied.
Deshmukh's personal assistant Kundan Shinde and personal secretary Sanjeev Palande were asked to appear before the CBI team in connection with its ongoing preliminary enquiry into the case following directives of the Bombay high court.
Singh in his statement also alleged that he was pressured into reinstating suspended police officer Sachin Waze in the police force by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and Anil Deshmukh when he was holding the home portfolio.
