How Net savvy are you? How would you rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10?
I get online everyday. I'd rate myself at 8.
What is your daily routine like?
Earlier I had the luxury of spending a lot of time online. As of now, I'm hard-pressed, so I only spend an hour or two every night.
What do you most enjoy doing on the Net?
I go through my mail and check out what's new on the Net. I also surf for more dope on books and movies. My interest bends towards entertainment, so I browse for everything on entertainment.
What are your favourite sites?
I surf Amazon.com a lot. Firstandsecond.com is also good for book lovers. I also get on search engines frequently.
Have you bought anything online?
I've bought a couple of things like DVDs and books. I rarely visit bookstores. So an online bookshop, like Firstandsecond.com is most convenient.
Have you been ego-surfing?
Very rarely. I did that during the release of Mohabbatein, to check the
response of the audience. I found a mixed response: Some of them liked me in the film, others didn't. I check out sites based on my films rather than on myself.
What is your favourite Web based gadget?
I lug my laptop around when I travel. There are many things you can do with a laptop around, like checking mails and watching movies. Once again, the entertainment bit gets me going.
What do you like most about the Internet?
The unlimited knowledge. It's all there: If you want to buy a product, go to a particular place or check out anything, all you have to do is log on. It's a marvelous research tool. All the work has been done for you by experts, and you just have to check it out. It's a great privilege.
What do you hate about it?
I hate it when the connection is slow. Downloading takes long India.
Do you chat with strangers?
I did chat with strangers a couple of years ago. I wasn't an actor then. It was a good experience. Some were friendly, some not very friendly.
Any strange experience online?
I can't recall any, as of now. You get to chat with people all over the world and that's nice. Nothing strange, really.
Are you keen on trying anything new online?
I would have been interested in trying things out, if I wasn't pressed for time. Right now, my experiments with the Net are limited to browsing. Had I more time at my disposal, things might have been different.
Any celebrity you would love to chat with?
I'd like to chat up a few Hollywood stars and find out how they churn out films there. I'd like to know how they enact a particular scene and stuff like that. The idea is to find out how they do things out there.
Would you like to change anything about the Net?
Not really. Technology will only get better and better, faster and faster. The charm of the Net lies in the fact that it knows no bounds. Information is so freely available. If you try to curb that, it takes away from the joy of it. There is nothing much to change.
