[Sophiya Haque on shopping, chatting and finding friends on the Net]

   Vivek Fernandes

The name is:
Sophiya Haque

Claim to fame:
Former Channel [V] VJ turned actress. Starred in Snip and made special appearances in Khoobsurat and Indian. Is currently cast as a Bollywood actress in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Bombay Dreams.

How net savvy are you?
I'm not very good with technical stuff but I'm pretty adept around a computer. Once I'm in London and am by myself I think I'll have more opportunities to pick up stuff. At home Jules (her life partner) hogs the computer most of the day.

How often do you surf?
I check my mail daily but there have been times, especially when I'm working on location, when I haven't checked mail for a week. But that's going to change. Everyone in Mumbai says that they'll keep in touch via email when I'm in London, so I am going to be chatting online and surfing much more.

What sites do you frequently visit?
I recently found this Web site called friendsreunited.co.uk that is based in the UK where I schooled. I found posts from people from my school dating back to 1942. I also managed to locate a few schoolmates and I'm hoping we can meet when I go there.

Have you bought or sold anything online?
Yes. I once bought a pair of falsies (fake breasts) online. Farah Khan thought mine weren't the desired size and so I had to get myself a pair. But the duty I paid on them was ridiculous and that deterred me from making too many more online purchases. However, we have bought a lot of music and books from Amazon.com.

Have you ever been ego surfing?
A friend, Adam Cooper, whom I studied with and who's now a noted ballet dancer, emailed me and said that he had found a lot of interesting stuff on me. That intrigued me and I used a search engine to check it out. I found over 200 pages on me so I was surprised… I checked some out but was not too happy about those sites, which used morphed images of me.

Who would you like to chat with online?
I think it would be Tom Watt. No particular reason. But I think he's a great comedian and he's such an amazing, unique person.
