Security forces continue 'Operation Sheruwali' for the seventh day in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, to hunt down Pakistani terrorists, while another anti-terrorist search operation was launched in neighbouring Poonch district.
Police in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district have arrested five absconders who had been evading arrest for years in connection with multiple criminal cases.
Army troops opened fire after noticing suspicious movement in a forward area near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, while security forces conducted searches at more than a dozen places in Poonch, Samba, and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
The hideout was busted during a joint search operation by army and special operations group of J-K police at Suranthal in Marhote area of Surankote late Sunday evening, the officials said.
"Time has come when people should also take upon themselves the responsibility of using their influence on militants to make them renounce violence," the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said.
The reopening brought a sense of relief to students, teachers, and parents across the region.

"This fight is against the hatred that the BJP and RSS are spreading throughout the country. They have tried to create conflicts between Hindus and Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs, and Hindus and Christians just to hold onto power. But they are failing and their strategy is not working," he said.
