A constable of the Border Security Force allegedly committed suicide after shooting and injuring a head constable at the Kaptoli border outpost, under the Sabroom subdivision of South Tripura district, police said in Agartala on Tuesday. Constable Vidyadhar shot head constable Rameswar Dayal with his service rifle, following an altercation over the allocation of duty and then shot himself, police said. The head constable is being treated at a local hospital.

At least 13 Reang-Bru refugees from Mizoram sheltered in Naisinghpara camp in north Tripura district, nearly 200 km from Agartala, were on Saturday killed in an accidental fire, a top police official said. "Fire broke out at nearly 12 noon and soon engulfed the camp. Thirteen charred bodies of men, women and children have been recovered so far," Deputy Inspector General Police (Control) Nepal Das said.
