Former Karnataka food and civil supplies minister H Halappa was on Saturday arrested in connection with a rape case filed against him by his friend's wife. Halappa, who appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department on Saturday following a notice served by the investigating agency on May 6, was questioned for three to four hours, said DIG of CID Charan Reddy. "We have formally arrested him after interrogating him. Halappa has denied the allegations," he said.

In yet another suspected case of honour killing, highly decomposed bodies of two teenaged lovers were on Thursday found hanging in an abandoned house on Rattia road in Fatehabad district. The boy and the girl, who have not been identified yet, were found hanging from the hook of a ceiling fan, said the police.Deputy Superintendent of Police Shiv Charan said the angle of honour killing could not be ruled out as both were found hanging from the same hook.
