Mangal Singh Champia, Jayanta Talukdar and Rahul Banerjee combined to clinch their second successive gold in the men's recurve team event as India signed off with three medals in the Archery World Cup Stage I at Santo Domnigo in the Dominican Republic. The trio had earned India its first-ever gold at the Meteksan World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, last year.

Indian archers made a resounding start at World Cup Stage 1 event at Santo Domingo in Dominican Republic, with Rahul Banerjee and Mangal Singh Champia finishing one-two in the men's recurve qualification round. The Indian men and women also stood first in recurve team qualifications on Wednesday, the first day of the event.

Rohullah Nikpai won Afghanistan's first medal at an Olympics on Wednesday, upsetting world flyweight champion Juan Antonio Ramos of Spain to take bronze in the men's 58-kg taekwondo category. In his bronze medal bout, Nikpai stayed cool and grew in confidence, playing off a supportive crowd and burying the Spaniard in the third round.
