Wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh passed away on Thursday morning at his residence on Mumbai. He had been battling for his life in a city hospital since the last four days and was brought back home on Wednesday night. The 84-year-actor was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in an emergency condition on July 7. He had suffered a cardiac arrest and since then he had been in the ICU.

The Supreme Court on Friday refused custodial parole to Dara Singh, who is serving life sentence for the murder of Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two minor sons, to perform rituals related to the immersion of ashes of his father. A bench comprising justices P Sathasivam and H L Dattu said it cannot grant custodial parole to Ravindra Pal Singh alias Dara Singh, to travel from Orissa to Allahabad for immersing the ashes of his father, who had died in 2003.

The Rajasthan government has suspended Additional Superintendent of Police Arshad Ali, who was charge-sheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation for his alleged involvement in the Dara Singh fake encounter case. His suspension order was issued on Monday, according to sources.Ajay Kumar Jain, another senior police officer who was suspended by the government, is absconding.The CBI had summoned both the officers in May for interrogation.
