The victim of the 2017 Unnao rape case, in which ex-BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was convicted, has approached the CBI seeking the registration of an FIR against the then-investigating officer for allegedly colluding with the former legislator. The woman also claims to face threats.
The CBI will challenge the suspension of life sentence and bail granted to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao rape case in the Supreme Court. The decision follows a Delhi High Court order suspending Sengar's sentence. Rahul Gandhi has criticized the decision and met with the survivor.
'When the accused has a past record demonstrating unprecedented and unmatched criminality and perversion, I believe the interests of justice would have been better served if such a person remained behind bars.'
District Judge Dharmesh Sharma adjourned hearing in the case till Friday.
According to the charge sheet, the three had allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped the woman a week after the June 4 incident.
The search operation is spread across at least 17 premises in four districts of Uttar Pradesh -- Lucknow, Banda, Unnao, Fatehpur, they said.
A 17-year-old girl has alleged that she was raped by Bangermau MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of the BJP at his residence when she had gone to meet him with a relative seeking a job last year.

The CBI began its questioning of the UP lawmaker around 5 am on Friday.
The expelled BJP MLA is accused of raping the woman in 2017. He is also facing murder charges as the woman was hit by a truck in July. Her two aunts were killed in the accident.
The woman deposed before District Judge Dharmesh Sharma during 'in-camera' proceedings held at the seminar hall of the the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre, her lawyer said.
The woman was allegedly kidnapped and raped by Sengar in 2017 when she was a minor.

District and Sessions Judge Dharmesh Sharma held that the objections of the complainant party read like an engrossing thrilling story but were based on mere surmises and conjectures.
He was brought along with co-accused Shashi Singh.
The trial court had awarded him the maximum punishment of life term with a rider that the convict will remain in jail for "remainder of his natural biological life" and also imposed an exemplary fine of Rs 25 lakh on him to be paid within a month.
'It cannot go unpunished,' he said on Twitter.
The HC sought responses of the CBI and the victim on Sengar's appeal challenging his conviction and imprisonment till remainder of his natural life. The court said Sengar can't be released as he's undertrial in other cases too.
The apex court will on Monday take a call on moving the woman and her lawyer to AIIMS in Delhi, it said.
District judge Dharmesh Sharma also said the facts and circumstances brought on the record prove beyond reasonable doubt that the accused hatched another crucial part of the conspiracy to foist a false case upon the victim by planting a country made gun and four cartridges.
On Tuesday, the Centre handed over the probe to the CBI on the recommendation of the Uttar Pradesh government. The state government has come under severe criticism for failing to provide security to the 19-year-old woman who was allegedly raped by the BJP MLA in 2017 when she was a minor.
The court also directed the CBI to continue assessing threat perception to the life and security of the survivor and her family members every three months.

The court convicted Sengar for rape under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act for offence by a public servant committing penetrative sexual assault against a child.

The FIR filed by the CBI had booked Sengar and nine other associates for alleged criminal conspiracy, murder, attempt to murder and criminal intimidation.
The FIR, in which 15-20 unnamed people were also mentioned, was registered at the Gurubuxganj police station in Rae Bareli.
Police are probing both the cases and efforts are on to trace the missing 9mm pistol, they said.

Shashi Singh, the woman who allegedly took the victim to MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar on the day of crime, has been arrested.
From police refusing to name the accused when the complaint was first filed to seeing her father tortured and killed, from her uncle being ensnared in an unrelated case to suffering an accident, which had clear marks of a conspiracy, the going was tough for her.
The Unnao police booked Sengar under various sections of the IPC and provisions of the POCSO Act, but said the CBI will take a decision about his arrest.
