The body of Jacintha Saldanha was laid to rest at the Our Lady of Health Church at Shirva, Udupi on Monday. The funeral took place amidst a large congegration of mourners.
The outpouring of grief was immense at Mangalore and Udupi when the body of Jacintha Saldanha arrived here on Sunday.
The body will be flown into Mangalore on Sunday morning and the funeral will be held the same day, according to family members.
"As the news of her funeral has spread far and wide, we are expecting quite a big number of people to attend it," father Sandy Taura, the parish priest, said.
