The Criminal Investigation Department on Saturday hinted that former Communist Party of India - Marxist minister Sushanta Ghosh could be subjected to a lie detector test, as an unspecified number of cartridges were seized during a search of his three residences in West Midnapore district and Kolkata on Saturday."We might go for a polygraph test of Ghosh if needed," a senior officer of CID said. Ghosh, the sitting legislator of Garbeta, was arrested on August 11.

A week after the killing of a 13-year old boy in an Army premises in Chennai, the Tamil Nadu Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department has cracked the case with the arrest of a retired Army officer, who confessed to his involvement in the incident. The special team of the Crime Branch of CID police arrested the 58-year old Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Kandaswamy Ramraj and recovered the 0.3 mm rifle used to fire at Dilshan, who was hit by the bullet.

The CB-CID team, probing the sexual assault of a girl student in Kanpur, has said that the DNA test of the school manager and his two sons have matched with the semen found on the clothes of the victim. The 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by Piyush, younger son of the school manager Chanderpal Verma, the team said in its report. The report also held guilty Verma and his elder son Mukesh for not taking the victim to the hospital following which the girl died.
