The Gujarat government on Saturday issued an apology, for the remarks made by the Surat civic chief on migrants, during her visit to one of the slums in the city. Surat Municipal Commissioner S Aparna, during her visit to a slum area in the city on Friday, told migrant workers to shift back to their native place if the cities they had come from provided better civic amenities than Surat. Migrant workers come in large numbers to to work in textile and other industries.
