The exit of WeWork from its India unit is unlikely to have an impact on the country's co-working real estate market, according to industry executives. The company last week received approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to sell its entire 27.5 per cent stake in the India unit to Real Trustee Advisory Company. The majority of the stake (72.5 per cent) in WeWork India is owned by Bengaluru-based Embassy Group.

India is proposing a new law that would impose a jail term of up to seven years and a fine of Rs 10 lakh on anyone found using a forged passport or visa to enter, stay, or exit the country. The Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, also mandates reporting of foreign visitors by hotels, universities, and hospitals to track overstaying individuals. India's Venture Capital (VC) ecosystem exhibited robust growth in 2024, with funding surging 43 per cent year-on-year to $13.7 billion, according to a report. This recovery was fuelled by a 45 per cent rise in deal activity, with 1,270 transactions recorded, reinforcing India's position as the second largest market for venture capital and growth funding in the Asia-Pacific region, the report by Bain & Company and IVCA said.
