10 Upcoming Web series To Watch Out For

OTT platforms have become very popular during the lockdown and several shows have released during this time: 26/11 State of Siege, Special Ops, Hashmukh, Mrs Serial Killer...

Of course, many more are waiting for a release. One waits for a formal announcement along with the release dates.

Joginder Tuteja gives us the line-up.

 

Breathe 2, Amazon Prime

Breathe was special as a 2018 release.

As a cop, Amit Sadh had to nab a common man-turned-serial killer (R Madhavan). Both actors gave superb performances.

Now, with Abhishek Bachchan stepping into the arena, Amit has reportedly toughened up even more in this Vikram Malhotra and Mayank Sharma created series.

 

Abhay 2, ZEE5

When Abhay released last year, it was a pleasant surprise with Kunal Kemmu doing exceedingly well as a brooding UP cop out to solve the deadliest crimes.

Every episode of this Ken Ghosh created series threw up a new case. Kunal's personal story raised intrigue as well.

The crimes are expected to take an even more evil route in the second season.

 

Kamathipura, Amazon Prime

For the first time, a Web series has been made on Kamathipura, Mumbai's red light area.

Tanuj Virwani (Inside Edge, Poison) goes dark and dangerous in Kamathipura. Meera Chopra plays a cop.

 

Baarish 2, ALTBalaji and ZEE5

Baarish saw a beautiful love story with Sharman Joshi and Asha Negi who defied all odds to come together.

In the second season, their relationship goes to the next level.

 

Avrodh, to be decided

Amit Sadh recently completed 10 years in Bollywood and will celebrate it with his Web series, Avrodh.

Based on India's September 28-29, 2016 surgical strike in Pakistan occuped Kashmir, the action thriller has Amit play Major Tango, the army officer who spearheaded the attack.

Uri-The Surgical Strike, the film on the surgical strike, was a huge blockbuster and the Web series will likely follow suit.

 

Cartel, ALTBalaji and ZEE5

Cartel is one of the most ambitious Web series put together for the OTT medium and has Vivek Oberoi and Tanuj Virwani come together again after Inside Edge .

Also starring Ravi Kishan, Vidya Malwade, Rithvik Dhanjani and Kubra Sait, this is a high decibel drama with a lot of action.

 

REJCTX 2, ZEE5

REJCTX was a success among lovers of crime thrillers.

The second season will see Esha Gupta making her debut in the OTT medium.

 

The Family Man 2, Amazon Prime

The Family Man is one of the best loved Indian Web series to have been released on an OTT platform.

The manner in which Directors Raj & DK put together this spy thriller with Manoj Bajpayee as 'the family man' out on a mission to save the country, one can expect the second season -- directed by former Rediff.com staffer Suparn Verma -- to go to the next level.

 

A Married Woman, ALTBalaji and ZEE5

A Married Woman tells the story of a relationship between two women.

Based on a book by the same name, A Married Woman features Ridhi Dogra and Monica Dogra and narrates a love story that blossomed against the backdrop of the 1992-1993 riots that ensued after the Babri Masjid demolition.

 

Mirzapur 2, Amazon Prime

It has been a long wait for the second season of Mirzapur.

The new season will continue the escapades of Guddubhaiyaa (Ali Fazal), Kaleenbhaiyaa (Pankaj Tripathi) and Munnabhaiyaa (Divyendu Sharma).
