Jharkhand Police have arrested nine rebels linked to the banned People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) in connection with the torching of vehicles used in road construction in Simdega district.
Jharkhand police arrested five members of the banned Maoist outfit Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) in Chatra district and a PLFI area commander surrendered in Khunti.
A Naxalite was arrested in Bihar's Nawada district, and a cache of arms, including an AK-47 rifle, was recovered from his possession.
Four villagers were shot dead by extremists in Jharkhand's Khunti and Palamau districts, police said on Monday. The activists of the People's Liberation Front of India abducted Sukra Pahan, 25, and Balram Singh, 27, from their houses in Khunti district's Bandra village on Sunday night and fired 13 bullets, killing them on the spot, district Superintendent of Police Manoj Kaushik said.
Mukesh Ganju, stated to be the mastermind of the murder of the journalist, is absconding.
