The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved seven multi-tracking projects of Indian Railways at an estimated cost of around Rs 32,500 crore, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said. If the state transport units take an annual hit of Rs 5,000 crore (Rs 50 billion) because of the higher diesel price, let the additional financial burden be borne by the different state governments which run those services.
