The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said they have arrested five 'hybrid' terrorists of the proscribed Lashkar-e-Tayiba outfit, three of whom were allegedly involved in the killing of a sarpanch in Baramulla district last month.
Restrictions continued in parts of Srinagar city for second day on Tuesday following the death of a youth in security forces firing.
A youth was killed and two others were injured when security forces fired at demonstrators in Srinagar.
A village sarpanch was gunned down by unidentified militants in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday evening. Militants shot from a close range at Ghulam Ahmad Yatoo, sarpanch of Palhallan village located on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, said a senior police official.
The areas of Srinagar placed under curfew include police station in the jurisdiction of Rainawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar, MR Gunj, Safakadal, Parimpora, and police division Qamarwari and Bemina, a police spokesman said. Curfew has also been imposed in Pampore town of Pulwama district in south Kashmir and Baramulla, Sopore, Kupwara and Handwara towns in north Kashmir
Two youth were critically injured on Sunday as mobs defied curfew and attacked the home of the state education minister in south Kashmir Anantnag district. Meanwhile 34-year old Mohammad Ashraf Mir who was critically wounded in police firing in Palhallan town on the Srinagar Muzaffarabad road on September 6 succumbed to injuries in the Soura medical institute this afternoon.
Curfew was imposed in the entire summer capital Srinagar, a day after four people including three teenagers were killed in police firing at Palhallan in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Security forces failed to quell the protests by using teargas and baton charges, and finally resorted to firing.

Normal life remained crippled due to curfew and the shutdown call by separatists groups.
Curfew remained in force in entire Srinagar district and Anantnag town on Saturday to thwart the separatists' plan to stage a two-day sit-in in the city centre even as the death toll in the ongoing unrest climbed to 56 in the Valley with the death of a youth injured in firing.
Security forces have been deployed in strength in sensitive and vulnerable areas to maintain law and order.
Two people have been killed as protesters on Saturday attacked police posts and security personnel in several areas and targeted BJP office in Kulgam as violence broke out in Kashmir Valley, a day after Burhan Wani, a poster boy of terror outfit Hizbul Mujhaideen, was killed in an encounter.
