India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki on Thursday said it has no plans to cut the price of Maruti 800 to compete with Tata Motors' Nano.
The tie-up would focus on financing of entry level cars from Maruti portfolio, which include the M800, Omni and Alto models, the company said. "Maruti Suzuki is keen to expand its presence in rural and semi urban markets. We have the right products and an excellent network across the country to support it. India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki on Saturday said its sales in October has dipped seven per cent at 64,490 units, against 69,415 units in the same month last year.
The domestic sales stood at 64,682 units compared with 63,086 units in the same month a year ago, up 2.53 per cent, the company said.
The domestic sales stood at 54,113 units compared to 60,229 units in the same month a year-ago, down by 10.15 per cent, the company said. Exports, however, grew marginally at 5,795 units as against 5,739 units in the corresponding month last year.
Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India's July sales remained almost flat at 58,543 units as against 57,909 units in the same month last year.
General Motors India reported on Monday a 64 per cent increase in its domestic vehicle sales during September at 5,751 units against 3,506 units in the same month last year. Mahindra and Mahindra reported on Monday a 24.9 per cent increase.
The company said its domestic sales increased by 0.7 per cent at 56,411 units as against 56,000 units in June last year. It said the A2 segment, comprising Alto, Zen Estillo, Wagon R and Swift registered a marginal growth of 0.3 per cent at 37,767 units, against 37,646 units in the same month last year.
