The 787 Dreamliner aircraft is 20 per cent more fuel-efficient than other comparable aircraft, which means it will reduce costs and offer potential to increase revenues, says Dinesh Keskar, President, Boeing India.
"By the time this fiscal year ends and then next one starts and unless someone does a harakiri in lowering their fare, we see a good scenario beginning April onwards," Boeing India president Dinesh Keskar told PTI in an interview.
"None of the air-carriers have asked us for either a deferral or cancellation...we are very comfortable with the market position," Boeing's Senior Vice President, Sales (commercial airplanes), Dinesh Keskar, said, while releasing the Current Market Outlook (CMO)2008-2028 report, in Mumbai on Wednesday. "We have fortunately not contributed to over-capacity as in the last ten mnonths we have not delivered many aircraft," Keskar said.
Boeing's 787 Dreamliner, a project which was marred by repeated delays and obstacles, is an instance of the most advanced aviation technology available. Its aerodynamic design, engines, flight controls and avionics are almost part of the aviation folklore.
Boeing had announced a further six-month delay for the first flight and initial deliveries of its 787 Dreamliner programme to Air India. A high-level Boeing team will discuss the fallouts with IA, including compensation in the coming week. The revised delays will have a significant impact on IA's growth plan and financial aspect. Apart from compensation, Boeing will also have to factor in the impact of the delay on the carrier's growth plan when computing for the same.
US aircraft manufacturer Boeing said on Tuesday the company will deliver more wide-bodied 777 aircraft to India in 2009 than in the current year, besides the 787 Dreamliner.
