Back in action after recovering from a knee injury, star shuttler Saina Nehwal says she needs good match practice to be at her best in the prestigious All England Championship in March. "I am happy with my improvement. My movements are still sluggish. I still need good match practice," she told reporters here late last night after losing to top-ranked shuttler Carolina Marin in a Premier Badminton League (PBL) match. Saina had sustained an intra-articular injury (inside the joint) in her right knee and had lost in the group stage in the Rio Olympics. She later underwent a surgery and was on rehab.

Kerala Forest Minister Binoy Viswam had announced naming the crocodile park at Neyyar in Steve's 'honour', shortly after his death in 2006 in a stingray attack, while shooting a film off the Australian coast.

The sixth edition of the World T20 cricket tournament is beginning in Nagpur on Tuesday with two qualifying matches being played. In the opening game, 13th-ranked Zimbabwe will take on 14th-ranked Hong Kong in Group B at 3 p.m. In the second match, also in Group B, 9th-ranked Afghanistan and 11th-ranked Scotland will clash at the same venue later in the evening at 7.30 p.m. Qualifying matches of Group A will be played at Dharamsala on Wednesday. The second round of the tournament, known as Super 10, will kick off on 15th March, also in Nagpur, when India go head to head with New Zealand in Group B. The other teams in Group B are Pakistan and Australia. They will be joined by the qualifying team.

Pakistan middle-order batsman Umar Akmal has launched a stinging attack against his country's media for constantly highlighting negative stories about him and spoiling his name in every little situation. The swashbuckling batsman made a promising debut in 2009, when he absolutely thrashed bowlers in the domestic circuit. Akmal also smashed blistering 102 runs in the third ODI of his debut series against Sri Lanka before introducing himself in the Test arena in a similar manner, scoring a brilliant 129 and 75 against New Zealand at Dunedin in November 2009.
