Indian Railways is in talks with Reliance Jio Infocomm to allow the Mukesh Ambani-led telecom major's use of its towers. The aim is seamless mobile and internet connectivity for passengers along the 67,368-km of tracks. The Railway Board has entrusted its RailTel Corporation arm to work on the modalities with Jio. The Jio tie-up is expected to bring down its telecom bill by at least 35 per cent from this financial year.

While the Union Cabinet had in November last year approved the sale of the government's entire 52.98 per cent stake in BPCL, offers seeking expression of interest (EoI), or bids showing interest in buying its stake, were invited only on March 7. The EoI submission deadline was May 2, but on March 31 it was extended up to June 13. On Wednesday, the government said this deadline is further being extended up to July 31.

The condition of Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament Virendra Kumar Khatik, who was beaten up allegedly by Railway Protection Force personnel, is stable and he is out of danger, doctors said on Saturday. The MP from Sagar was beaten up on Friday during an anti-encroachment drive near Bina railway station. He was hit by RPF personnel while protesting against the removal of encroachments from Chhoti Bajaria area, police had said.

A bench comprising Justices Altamas Kabir and H S Bedi gave the stay order on a special petition filed by Santokben through her counsel Bina Madhavan that challenged the tests as being illegal, unconstitutional and violative of individual privacy. "The Corporation has decided to offer a voluntary retirement scheme, with a view to enable employees who are not in a position to continue in service of the Corporation due to various personal reasons, to request for grant of voluntary retirement from the services of the Corporation," Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) said in an internal notice to its employees.
