Eight Naxalites and a jawan of the Special Task Force (STF) were killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Saturday, police said.
The skirmish took place on Thursday morning when a team of the 171st battalion of Border Security Force was out on a road security operation in Bande police station area, a senior police official said.
"I am a farmer's son and I was here to raise the voices of farmers and jawans," Tej Bahadur Yadav said.

The Border Security Force troops on Saturday apprehended six Bangladeshi nationals who were trying to sneak into Pakistan near Indo-Pak border in Jammu district.
The total number of infections or active cases in the 2.5 lakh personnel strong force now stand at 193 now. Two jawans have recovered.
The heavy shelling took place in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts.
"They have set up camps for Rohingyas coming from within the country and not from Bangladesh," Sharma said.

Pakistani Rangers and BSF troops exchanged fire along the International Border in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior BSF officer said.

Four Pakistani rangers were killed in Border Security Force's strong retaliation after a jawan of the force lost his life in heavy firing from the other side on a patrol on Wednesday along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.
The encounter broke out early on Saturday between a BSF patrol and armed Naxal cadres near the Chhotebethiya-Pakhanjore jungle axis of the Maoist violence-hit district, officials said.
