Nigerian national Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was on Thursday charged in a six-count criminal indictment for his alleged attempt to blow up a North West Airlines plane with 300 people on board on Christmas Day."The charges that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab faces could imprison him for life," Attorney General Eric Holder said. Abdulmutallab allegedly boarded Northwest Airlines flight 253, with 289 passengers and 11 crew members, at Amsterdam on Dec 25, carrying a concealed bomb.

A law firm, Izard Nobel LLP, has initiated a lawsuit seeking class action status against the company in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on behalf of its investors. The law firm said certain officers and directors of Caraco violated federal securities' laws and interests of the investors by giving misleading information on the business of the company. It has asked the investors to join the suit before September 15 to claim their damages.

In an apparent case of murder-suicide, a Malayali woman and her two children were found dead in the family's home in Delta Township, west of Lansing, Michigan.The dead victims were identified as Brigeethamma Shajimon, 40, Alwin Shajimon Thomas, 10, and Alfred Shajimon Thomas, 5, by the Eaton County Sheriff's Office.Brigeethamma's husband Shajimon Thomas called the police on Monday evening.
