If there’s one silhouette that refuses to be put in a box, it’s the sari. In 2025, it was reimagined, remixed and completely reinvented.

The six yards that once followed strict rules suddenly became a playground of blazers, corsets, capes, shirts, slits and experimental drapes.

Traditional silks met power tailoring, vintage brocades flirted with modern corsets and pre-draped styles made a strong case for comfort-meets-couture.

What made this year different was how effortlessly the sari adapted to the changing moods of fashion. It could be corporate, sensual, edgy, nostalgic or futuristic, sometimes all in the same look.

And so we break down the most unforgettable sari moments of the year and show you exactly how each celebrity put their own spin on India’s oldest garment.

This year, the blouse became the hero and hence the sari was draped differently. Photograph: Kind courtesy Janhvi Kapoor/Instagram
