Every year, the Rhodes Scholarships for India selects a handful of exceptional students to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford.

What is it about?
The Rhodes Scholarships for India 2026 is an initiative of the Rhodes Trust in partnership with the second-century founder of McCall MacBain Foundation, John Mccall Macbain OC, for Indian postgraduate applicants to the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship is for young leaders of outstanding intellect and character who are motivated to engage with global challenges, committed to the service of others and show promise of becoming value-driven, principled leaders in the future.
The selected candidates will receive the following:
- A fully funded scholarship for full-time postgraduate study at the University of Oxford
- A living stipend of £19,800 per annum
- A fee to cover their university application
- The fee for a student visa and the associated International Health Surcharge (IHS)
- Two economy class tickets for the beginning and end of the chosen course
- A settling-in allowance upon arrival to Oxford
- Assistance to cover the fee for visa renewal and further application for IHS for scholars who transition to a second course of study.
Who can apply
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Be a citizen of India
- Be an Indian passport holder or have equivalent proof of citizenship
- Be aged 18-23 on October 1, 2025 (ie the applicants must have been born after October 1, 2001, and before October 2, 2007)
- Be under the age of 27 years on October 1, 2025 (ie, have been born after October 1, 1998) and must also have completed the academic requirements for the first undergraduate degree on or after October 1, 2025
- Have completed an undergraduate degree (usually a bachelor’s) by July 2026
- Have an academic background and grade that meets or exceeds the specific entry requirements of the chosen course at the University of Oxford
- Have undertaken formal study at an educational institution in India for a minimum of four of the last 10 years and have either completed a school leaving exam (Class 10 and 12 or equivalent) at a school in India, be in the final year or have completed an undergraduate degree at a university in India
- Have received an offer for a postgraduate taught course at the University of Oxford.
