Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar makes for a good watch, assures Joginder Tuteja.
As albums go, Malik has crafted one which is mostly harmless. There's one great track to begin with, one ghazal that simply cannot be made sense of and the director's own rough-and-tumble lyrics to add some quirk to it all. Essentially, however, it's pretty much filler -- stuff you won't mind along with stuff you wish was worked on a little harder.
Soft love ballads or playful ditties have always been Anu Malik's forte. But a sci-fi flick like Love Story 2050 asks for something radically innovative and decidedly eccentric, which the music director fails to deliver.
'Anu Malik has great respect for lyrics and lyrics writers. He has worked with big important people through the '80s and the '90s -- everyone from Gulzar and Majrooh Sultanpuri. Anu Malik has tried hard to go 'modern' with this album, clearly picking up on current market trends and trying to incorporate -- and replicate -- them to come up with something peppy and fun, but there isn't a single truly fun track on this album, and it's hard to imagine it catching on.
