The government has extended till December 31 the deadline given to Research in Motion (RIM), maker of BlackBerry phones, to provide access to its messenger and enterprise services to the security agencies.
Research In Motion, maker of BlackBerry mobile phones, on Monday gave certain proposals for lawful access to its services by law enforcing agencies and said that these proposals will be immediately operationalised in India, Union home ministry sources said after a meeting between RIM and government officials.
BlackBerry-maker Research in Motion said it is hopeful that its dispute with India and the UAE over the issue of data security will be resolved successfully, but reiterated that it "cannot compromise the security architecture of its enterprise solution."
