Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party met in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss Arun Shourie's remarks against the party and the BJP's future course of action.Besides party president Rajnath Singh, vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and party general secretaries Vijay Goel and Vinay Katiyar attended the meeting, which was held at the party headquarter. According to sources, the leaders reviewed the situation, but refrained from taking any action against Shourie.

The Sports Ministry constituted a two-member committee to probe the allegations of official apathy leveled by marathon runner O P Jaisha, who claims to have been denied water refreshment during her event at the Rio Olympic Games. Jaisha, who finished 89th in the marathon event, has alleged that no water or energy drinks were made available by the Indian officials during her event, leaving her completely exhausted at the end of the race. She had fainted after crossing the finishing line.
