The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it would consider allowing former Gujarat minister Amit Shah, an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, to enter the state in view of the upcoming assembly polls but would like the trial of the case to be shifted to Maharashtra.
"There is something seriously amiss about the whole investigation," Additional Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium, who has been appointed an amicus curiae (court officer) by the apex court, told a bench of Justices Tarun Chatterjee and Mukundakam Sharma. Senior counsel Dushyant Dave, appearing for Syed Rubabuddin brother of the deceased, also complained that the Gujarat police was conducting tardy investigations as various police officials have not been examined.
