Rajnish Rai, the supervisory officer of the CID (crime) probing the fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, has been asked to discontinue with the probe.
The Supreme Court admitted the petition seeking CBI inquiry into the fake encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and a habeas corpus petition seeking to trace his wife Kausar Bi.
"We have taken the three accused IPS officers -- D G Vanzara, Rajkumar Pandiyan and Dinesh Kumar M N to different places including a farm-house where Kausar Bi is suspected to have been eliminated," a police source said.
About 150 advocates of the Metropolitan Court wrote a letter to the Bar Association vice-president saying none of them would appear on behalf of Vanjhara as he had "troubled advocates in the past."
A meticulous probe by Gujarat's CID (Crime) had some days ago indicated that Kausar could have been killed at an isolated place near state capital Gandhinagar.
The Apex Court will hear the matter on Friday.
Police had claimed that Sohrabuddin was killed in a joint operation by the Gujarat and Rajasthan police in 2005.
The official under scrutiny, N K Amin, is a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the CID and worked previously under D G Vanzara.
Vanzara has a heart ailment and has been treated for the same several times in the recent past, said advocate Mitesh Amin when the plea for conducting narco-analysis tests on Vanzara and five others arrested in the case came up for hearing.
