The Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party on Wednesday decided to forge a pre-poll alliance for the next month's assembly elections in Goa, saying that the Congress didn't respond to their proposal for a joint contest.
Prime Minister Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh would be present at the function, a government spokesperson said.
"The TMC wants to defeat BJP and will do whatever necessary. We want to ensure that BJP does not win or form a government through the backdoor," Moitra said when asked about a possible pre-poll alliance with the Goa Forward Party (GFP) and Congress.
Earlier, BJP leader Ram Lal said the Goa government is stable and no demand has been made for a change in the leadership.
