Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has sought a first information report (FIR) after students allegedly raised 'provocative' slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah inside the university campus during an event on Monday night, varsity officials said.

The JNUSU holds the Vice-Chancellor responsible for the violence. "He is using henchmen to perpetrate violence on students and vandalise the university," said JNUSU. "The JNU community has a single point of demand. That either this VC resign or the human resource development ministry as the competent authority remove him! Those who are trying to malign and destroy this university will not succeed," demanded JNUSU.
According to the sources, the clash took place during a public meeting organised by the JNU Teachers' Association.
In a video shared on social media, Aishe Ghosh is seen crying while bleeding profusely from the head.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University administration, in an advisory on Monday, said the union has not taken its permission for the event and it should be cancelled as it could "disturb peace and harmony".
