Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh, who gave Rs10 lakh to the widow of inspector Mohan Chander Sharma for defending the nation, has now demanded a judicial probe into the alleged encounter, which he describes as fake.
"I am told that he was not in the special cell and had been taken out of the force," Singh said after visiting the Batla House, where the encounter took place.
Incidentally, there was a discrepancy in the cheque and Singh promised to send it back after correcting it, but did not do so.
However, the family of the cop is angry.
"I do not want his money. He has made fun of my husband's supreme sacrifice,' said Maya Sharma, widow of the inspector.
"Inspector Sharma was part of the special cell and had never been removed from there. Singh has made allegations and we will reply to them in the court of law," Rajan Bhagat, Delhi police spokesperson, told rediff.com on Monday.
Prakash Javadekar, BJP spokesperson, said that this is vote bank politics at its worst.
