Scientific Research Scholarships 2004-2005

The Trustees of the Lady Tata Memorial Trust offer scholarships for scientific investigations having a bearing directly or indirectly on the alleviation of human suffering from disease.

Scholars with first class academics are required to work whole time under the direction of a scientist of standing in a recognised institution.

Rates of scholarships and other particulars are as follows:

1. Post-Doctoral Fellowship.

Eligibility: PhD in Science or MD/MS degree with two years' research experience.

Value of Award: Rs 11,000 per month.

Contingency Grant: Rs 10,000 per annum.

Age limit: 35 years as on March 31, 2004.

2. Senior Scholarships.

Eligibility:

a. Postgraduates with MD/MS degree or graduates in Medicine (MBBS) with completed internship.

b. MSc with two years research experience.

Value of Award: Rs 9,000 per month.

Contingency Grant: Rs 7,500 per annum.

Age limit: 30 years as on March 31, 2004.

3. Junior Scholarships.

Eligibility: MSc graduates or BSc with distinction and two years' research experience.

Value of Award: Rs 8,000 per month.

Contingency Grant: 7,500 per annum.

Age limit: 27 years as on March 31, 2004.

HRA at 10% of the value of the scholarship will be offered to scholars doing research work at institutes in locations outside their place of permanent residence.

Note: Applications for joint investigations will not be accepted. Any one guide in a department is requested to recommend the application of only one candidate in any given area.

Last date for receiving applications: January 31, 2004.

All Awards are effective from August 1, 2004.
