Justice Sawant to probe Hazare's allegations: Shinde

August 16, 2003 18:05 IST

Maharashtra government on Saturday appointed former Supreme Court judge P B Sawant to probe the allegations of corruption leveled by noted Gandhian Anna Hazare against four Nationalist Congress Party ministers, Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said in Mumbai.

Justice Sawant would also probe allegations leveled by Maharashtra minister Suresh Dada Jain against the misuse of funds by Hazare in the trust floated by him.

The government decision comes in the wake of the spat between Jain and Hazare going on fast-unto-death at historic Azad Maidan from August nine.
