In the twilight of an illustrious career, Sachin Tendulkar [Images] admits he will have to bid adieu to one-day cricket at some point of time to prolong his Test career.

The Mumbai batsman is irked by rumours about premature retirement and said they are completely unnecessary, as he will let everyone know when he intends leaving the scene.

Tendulkar felt one-dayers put his ageing body under the wear and tear. "ODIs put lot of pressure on your body and chances of injuries are more than Test cricket. So, probably, one-day cricket is the one I may stop playing before Test cricket," he told NDTV.

After 18 years in the business, Tendulkar is enticed by the longer version of the game.

"Test cricket is definitely more challenging than one-day cricket and ODI puts lot of load on your body.

"But, again, if I make any decision (regarding retirement), I would let everyone know," he said.

The Mumbaikar fell all the hype around the final India-England ODI at the Lord's being his last match on British soil resulted in speculation about his retirement.

"I don't know where it started from. In fact, I asked Anjali (his wife) and she said that all these things have started back home. I asked who started it, because I have not said anything.

"As far as I was concerned, I did not take any notice of all that because we had a very, very important game on hand and I was focusing on the (series deciding) Lord's match, though people kept talking about it being my last one-dayer."
