Rajneesh Gupta | April 01, 2004 15:25 IST

India registered a comprehensive victory over Pakistan in the first Test in Multan on Thursday, winning by an innings and 52 runs on the fifth day. The victory is India's first in Pakistan in their 21st Test, and only the 20th in 180 Tests overseas.

The break-up of India's overseas wins: four out of 18 Tests in New Zealand, four out of 32 Tests in Australia, four out of 45 Tests in England, three out of 38 Tests in the West Indies, two out of 12 Tests in Sri Lanka, one out of one in Bangladesh, one out of four in Zimbabwe… and now this one in Pakistan.

The only country where India are yet to register a Test victory is South Africa, where they played nine Tests, lost four and drawn five.
