Ganguly to miss Nov 6 tie also

October 30, 2003 23:25 IST

Sourav Ganguly, who is recovering after having surgery on an abscess on his left thigh, has been ruled out of the November 6 tri-series match against New Zealand.

The India captain, who was earlier told to sit out of the first three games of the series by his doctors, will also have to miss the fourth, surgeon Mrinmoy Nandy said.

"He cannot play the November 6 match. The wound is healing, but since it is a big wound it will take some time to heal," Nandy said.

He said is still on a course of antibiotics and is recovering well. "But we don't want to rush things," he added.

The doctor said one of the superficial stitches on the wound has been removed. "The remaining six stitches, including the two deep ones, would be removed in a phased manner."

Asked whether Ganguly would be fit before the November 12 outing against Australia at Pune, Nandy replied: "Let's see."

The six-member medical board, set up to treat Ganguly, will review the condition of the ailing skipper on Sunday, Nandy informed.

"By Tuesday we'll be able to say whether he would be available for the Bangalore tie," he said.
