Furious at the United Kingdom for barring his entry, controversial Muslim leader Dr Zakir Naik has decided to initiate legal proceedings challenging the revocation of his visa and the 'maligning' of his character by Britain's department of home affairs. Dr Naik, a resident of Mumbai, was scheduled to leave for UK on June 18. A day before his departure, the British high commission hand delivered an order revoking his visa that was valid till 2013.

Police are investigating an e-mail message, circulated to the media on Friday, warning that bombs would go off all over Kerala on Independence Day. The message was put out in the name of one 'Zakir Hussein' claiming to be the commander of 'Militia Malabar Mujahadeen', police sources said. The message claimed that it was being sent from a country in the Middle East, the sources said. Inspector General of North Zone Tomin Thanchankari has been entrusted with the investigation.
