The commissioning of the 3-km Versova to Azad Nagar stretch of Mumbai Metro-I project will not be operational from September, as the Central Railway Safety Commissioner's approval is still awaited.
Mumbai Metro One (MMOPL) has decided to offer a promotional fare of Rs 5 between any two stations on the stretch on a trial basis, to woo people to commute in the city's first Metro during off-peak hours in morning, its operator.
None of the seven consortiums shortlisted for the Maharashtra government's flagship project, the Rs 6,200-crore second phase of the Mumbai Metro, participated in the financial bids that closed on Friday.
