A major tragedy was on Saturday averted with the timely detection of an IED by the Army on the Jammu-Poonch highway in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch border district, officials said. The IED, planted by militants, was detected at Sheri-Kashmir bridge on the highway at the entry of Poonch town, ahead of the passage of a convoy in the area, an army official said.The device was later defused by the bomb disposal squad, he said.
